Auburn Mayor Declares ‘Alan Jackson Day’

Alan Jackson has won dozens of awards and trophies in a career that has spanned more than 20 years, and now has won another award.

Prior to his recent performance on April 12 at the 50th Annual Alpha Psi Rodeo and concert in Auburn, Alabama, mayor, Bill Ham Jr., declared the entire day Alan Jackson Day in honor of the many achievements of the native Georgia. Jackson ,


who received a plaque in honor of the occasion, is also nominated for next month Billboard Music Award for Top Christian Album for his 2013 record , 'Precious Memories: Vol . II. 'The 55 - year-old has had a memorable year. His latest album, The Bluegrass Album ' , recorded an impressive four months the No. 1, but the singer, who wrote eight of the 11 songs on the disc , remains humble about his success.

"I 'm just a fan of music," he told The Boot. "I do not want to do anything to disappoint the bluegrass world. Did not want them to think I'm just a country act want to do a bluegrass album. I really wanted to try to write some songs that were a decent approach from a perspective bluegrass, and just as with the production and everything.

"Jackson certainly performs songs from both" Precious Memories, vol. II 'and' The Bluegrass Album ' while crossing the country to perform in the coming months, including a performance. Merlefest in next week View a list of all upcoming shows here.
