The fair set a new precedent by announcing its first show of 2015, the country superstar Carrie Underwood in early December and August 29th concert sold out. So why keep music lovers in suspense?
Three more performances starring time-tested events will go on sale next week: veteran rockers Def Leppard with Styx and Tesla ($ 67 and $ 52) on August 27; unconditional country Jackson with acclaimed newcomer Grammy nominated Brandy Clark ($ 40) on August 30, and the Happy Together Tour 1960 golden oldies, including turtles, Association, bases, Lindsay Buckinghams and Mark Paul Revere and the Raiders ($ 21) on August 31.
Tickets for each concert will go on sale at 10 am, 11 am and noon respectively on February 3 at goticketsnow.com, 1-800-514-3849 and the State Fair box office (open 10 am- 1pm on February 3, regular box office hours begin in June).
All three of the recently announced headliners have been regulars at the Minnesota State Fair. Def Leppard has rocked the podium on four previous occasions, most recently in 2011. Jackson has seven concerts in the stands, the last in 2012, and turtles have brought their oldies package to the show for the past four years.
Other concerts include Gregg Allman recently announced (the recently dissolved Allman Brothers Band), which held March 27 at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis, and Mark Knopfler, who returns to the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis in September 29. Ticket details are not announced for concerts.
Indie pop heroes Death Cab for Cutie again Northrop Auditorium on May 2 (tickets, priced at $ 38.50, go on sale at noon on Friday), and the pillars of indie-rock Sufjan Stevens is fixed for Northrop April 22 (tickets are $ 39.50, go on sale at 10 am Friday).
